The role in a nutshell:

Help us to deliver our Dementia Wellbeing Programme designed to uplift, and empower people living with dementia, their loved ones, and carers.

What will you be doing?

Volunteers will work alongside staff to help to facilitate and run groups under our wellbeing programme.  Some of our current groups include carers evening socials, peer wellbeing groups and weekly fitness classes.  This is a very rewarding client facing role. 

We are currently specifically looking for support at our weekly fitness group on a Wednesday, from 1pm, at the David Weir Centre in Carshalton.  

How would you be supported in this role?

In addition to providing you any relevant training for the role, we will also provide you with check-ins, a key contact or other functions to ensure you are best supported as a volunteer.

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Delivered through the Sutton Dementia Hub, our Dementia Service offers expert, compassionate support for individuals and families throughout every stage of the dementia journey.  Our wellbeing programme is designed to uplift, connect and empower people living with dementia, their loved ones, and carers.  We need the support of volunteers to enable us to run this programme and groups in a safe, effective and enjoyable way. 

Additional information:

This role will be working in the community in the Borough of Sutton.  
You will be given travel expenses in accordance with our policy.  
 
You would join a friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic team.

What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role?

We need patient, compassionate and approachable volunteers with a willingness to get stuck in and help.  We need reliability, whilst holding appropriate boundaries.  If  you enjoy meeting new people and supporting people to engage with activities then this role could be for you.
