The role in a nutshell:

Empower older people in Sutton to gain social and support networks and help them connect with community groups and services

What will you be doing?

As a Community Connector you will work on a one to one basis with individuals over a time-limited period (usually 12 weeks).  You will meet with your client in the community and enable clients to take the first steps towards joining activities and reconnecting. You will need to be a great listener. 

How would you be supported in this role?

In addition to providing you any relevant training for the role, we will also provide you with check-ins, a key contact or other functions to ensure you are best supported as a volunteer.

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Community Connectors help individuals to set personal goals and build confidence, helping them to take the first steps towards joining activities and reconnecting with their community.

Additional information:

This role will be working in the community in the Borough of Sutton.  
You will be given travel expenses in accordance with our policy.  
 
You would join a friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic team.

What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role?

We are looking for volunteers who are patient, empathetic, non-judgmental and friendly. We need someone who is reliable, and can hold appropriate boundaries.  You must be an excellent listener and enjoy meeting people.
