Age UK Hillingdon, Harrow & Brent - Steps Programme Walking Companion

This role is based at the Townfield Community Centre.

The role in a nutshell:

Join us as a Steps Programme Walking Companion, where you will be supporting older people recently discharged from hospital or those who have lost confidence going out alone.

What will you be doing?

• Accompany an older person on a short walk in their local area once per week for 6 weeks
• Provide encouragement and friendly conversations during walks Record basic feedback after each session
• Communicate any concerns or issues to the Steps Programme Coordinator

How would you be supported in this role?

• We will make sure that you receive appropriate training for the role and that you have the support of a member of staff

• We offer a range of benefits to our volunteers and will also cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses

As part of the recruitment process, this position requires a DBS check and two satisfactory references.

• Able to walk outdoors for up to an hour, including varying weather
• Reliable and punctual
• Respectful of confidentiality and personal boundaries
• Committed to completing the 6 week-programme
