This role operates across Hillingdon, Harrow & Brent

The role in a nutshell:

To help Age UK HHB connect with local residents by representing us at community events, information stalls and outreach days—raising awareness, sharing service information, and encouraging volunteers

What will you be doing?

-Set up and pack down an information stall (table, banners, leaflets) 

-Welcome members of the public, start friendly conversations and explain our   services clearly

-Offer basic signposting and record contact details for follow-up (with    consent)

-Capture simple information (footfall, conversations, referrals) on a sheet 

-Work alongside staff and fellow volunteers to ensure the stall is safe,    inclusive and engaging

-Feedback local insights, questions and suggestions after each event

-Optional activities to support the team: short surveys, prize draws or taster    activities

 

This role does not include personal care, handling client money, casework, or giving legal/medical/financial advice

How would you be supported in this role?

-Welcome & role induction (safeguarding, GDPR, lone working, H&S at events)

-Customer-care and inclusive communication basics

-Briefing pack for each event (key messages, FAQs, venue info, risk notes)

-Shadowing: minimum 2 outreach shifts alongside an experienced staff    member/volunteer before “sign-off” to volunteer independently (always with  another person present)

-Ongoing refreshers and de-briefs after events

As part of the recruitment process, this position requires a DBS check and two satisfactory references.

 

 

What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role?

-Warm, patient communicator; comfortable starting conversations

-Reliable timekeeper: happy to follow a brief and use simple forms/apps

-Culturally sensitive and non-judgemental; team player

-Physically able to manage light set-up/pack-down (we can adapt if needed)
